As they survive in the vastness of the Minecraft game, sooner or later, every player has to think about where they can get large amounts of leather, milk and beef. And the only way is to start raising cows. Since none of these types of resources can be obtained in large quantities from other animals.
A cow in Minecraft or “Cow” is a friendly mob that is a source of several resources at the same time. This is why many players create large farms with cows and breed them. And if you suddenly don’t know how to breed cows in Minecraft, where to find a cow and much more, then we recommend that you familiarize yourself with this material.
Corral
Pre-create a pen in which you will keep the animals. Use the fence and double doors for this, light the pen with torches so that hostile mobs do not appear nearby. For most animals, one fence height is sufficient, but for chickens it is better to create a pen 2 fences high. In addition, you can create an additional fence with a door in case there are a lot of animals so that they do not run away when you enter, but this is not necessary if you are saving resources.
What? Where? Where?
So where do we start our task today? Probably the first thing we need to do is figure out where we will keep our cattle. So the first stage is the construction of the pen. After all, without it, your cow will simply run away.
Start construction near your home. Build a spacious fence and install a gate. Don't skimp on space - the pen should be quite spacious. Especially when you plan to have a lot of livestock. Now that everything is ready, let's take a closer look at how to tame a cow in Minecraft. It's not as difficult as it seems at first glance. Let's get started.
Search for animals
You can use a leash to bring any animal with you, create it if you have the necessary items.
Creating a leash
If it is not possible to create a leash, then use your favorite animal food. Go in search of animals, but do not go too far so as not to get lost and to make it easier to bring the animal to the pen. To attract and tame animals you need different types of food:
Animal | Feed |
Cow | Wheat |
Sheep | Wheat |
Goat | Wheat |
Chicken | Any seeds |
Pig | Carrots, Potatoes, Beets |
Rabbit | Carrot and Dandelion |
Wolf | Meat |
Ocelot | Fish |
Parrot | Any seeds |
Panda | Bamboo |
Horse | Golden Apple |
Lama | Sheaf of hay |
Turtle | sea grass |
Fox | Sweet berries |
Bee | Any flower |
Most animals will follow their favorite food, except wolves, foxes, ocelots, llamas and horses. Wolves need to be tamed using a bone, after which they are domesticated and follow the player. Ocelots need to be fed raw fish by slowly approaching them, after which they can be fed fish again to produce offspring. Llamas and horses are tamed by right-clicking the mouse with an empty hand, while the player sits astride the llama or horse, it can throw him off, you need to mount it again until the hearts appear. After taming, llamas can be bred with sheaves of hay, and horses with golden apples.
Take the animal’s favorite food in your hand and come closer to it, it is advisable to look for a couple of animals at once, if there are more than 2 of them, then this is even better. Now move towards your pen, stopping after walking some distance so that the animals have time to run after you. Bring the animals to the pen and lead them into it. Animals often get stuck at the entrance; in this case, temporarily break the door or gate, and when the animal is inside, restore the door.
How to raise pigs
Pigs are not only meat, but also a means of transportation!
Pigs are passive creatures that spawn naturally and can be used to transport or obtain food. Most often they are found in groups, but can also be seen in the water. Using a saddle and a special fishing rod with a carrot on a hook - a delicacy for pigs - you can ride them. This type of transport for moving long distances is almost as good as a horse.
Where can you find carrots?
- Carrots can be found on rural farms or very rarely after killing zombies.
- When collecting carrots, you can get from one to four pieces.
- Bone meal fertilizer speeds up yields.
- Golden carrots can be useful for making a night vision potion.
Fried pork perfectly satisfies hunger, although not as much as beef. If you prefer pigs as a mode of transport, be careful, because during a thunderstorm, if they are struck by lightning, they will turn into zombie pigs, and they can be very dangerous!
Cows, Sheep and Goats
Cows, fly agarics (mushroom cows), sheep and goats will follow you if you hold wheat in your hand; they reproduce with the same food. Bring a pair of animals into a pen and feed wheat to both animals, after which a baby will appear immediately. The next crossing will be possible in about 5 minutes. You can feed the baby to make it grow faster. Cows and musk agarics drop leather and raw beef, using an empty bucket from cows you can get a Bucket of Milk, and using an empty bowl you can get stewed mushrooms from mu agarics. Sheep drop wool and meat, and wool can also be obtained by using scissors on the sheep. Goats drop raw lamb. In Bedrock Edition you can also get a goat horn from them if you force them to die by crashing into a solid block.
Spawn
Natural Appearance
Cows spawn in groups of 2 to 3 on turf blocks at light level 9 or higher. There should also be a space equal to two blocks above the turf. Cows spawn in all grassy biomes except snowy tundra and forested plateau wasteland.
Cows will also spawn on turf during world generation. These mobs appear in villages in animal pens.
There is a 5% chance that a calf may appear instead of an adult.
Ocelot
Finding, taming and breeding ocelots will be much more difficult. First you need to find an ocelot and approach it at a distance of 10 blocks holding raw cod or raw salmon in your hand and wait. You cannot make sudden movements. The ocelot itself will slowly approach, after which it needs to be fed with fish several times, after which it will no longer be afraid of the player and will slowly follow him if he has a fish in his hand. Thus, find another ocelot and tame it. Wait until both tamed ocelots are hungry and feed them raw fish.
Drop
- 0-2 skins. The maximum number of items dropped increases by one with each level of the Loot enchantment, reaching 5 items with the Loot III enchantment.
- 1-3 raw beef (roasted beef is dropped if the cow dies from fire). The maximum number of items dropped increases by one with each level of the Loot enchantment, reaching 6 items with the Loot III enchantment.
- 1–3 if killed by a player or a tamed wolf.
After successful breeding, the rolls are 1–7.
Like other cubs, the calf does not drop items or experience.
Lama
Llamas are tamed in the same way as horses - you need to sit on the llama several times by right-clicking on it with an empty hand. Llamas reproduce with sheaves of hay, but they do not follow food; the only way to make a llama follow the player is by using a leash. If you tie one llama to a leash, the others will follow it. You can also try to push the llamas to the right place or towards each other.

Fox
Foxes are afraid of the player and run away from him very quickly. You can take advantage of the fact that foxes sleep during the day, sneak up on such a fox while holding Shift and build a fence around it. But at the same time, a problem remains - you need to bring the second fox to the pen, this can only be done with the help of a leash. Foxes reproduce with sweet berries, the born baby will not be afraid of the player.

#1 Wool Farm in Minecraft
Ideally, the player would create 16 of these automated wool farms, one for each wool color. This system works by an observer sending a signal whenever grass is eaten and triggering a dispenser filled with transparent sheets. Again, the scissors will need to be replaced from time to time, but one scissor-filled dispenser will give you between 2142 and 6426 wool before it runs out, which is plenty.
Sheep grow wool every time they eat grass. Eating grass refreshes the block and turns it into dirt, and the observer looks into the dirt to detect this. The grass blocks on the side of the ground are there to allow grass to grow for the sheep to eat.

#4 Bamboo Farm in Minecraft
This pattern is very similar to the Sugar Cane Farm pattern, although it is harvested three blocks at a time instead of two, and unlike the Sugar Cane Farm, it can be tiled. Numerous bamboo stems could be placed side by side by fitting them to the same observer/piston system.
#8 Sugar cane farm in Minecraft
One of the simplest devices, this invention will harvest sugar cane when it grows to three blocks tall. Beneath the sand where the sugar cane grows is a hopper cart placed on a track on top of another hopper leading to a chest.
Hopper carts have an interesting property: they can pick up dropped items through the blocks they are under. This means that the sugar cane will fall onto the sand, but will be sucked into the chest below.
#9 Chicken egg farm in Minecraft
If you want to make a large number of cakes, then the above device will be very useful for you. The chickens sit in a 2x1 glass cage and the water pushes them towards the funnel. When they lay an egg, it falls into a funnel that leads to an upward-facing dispenser on the side. You can take half of the eggs for yourself, and half to raise new chickens.
The redstone invention features a single dispenser facing down into a 1x1 underground hole. This dispenser has a water bucket that will be emptied or refilled every time you turn on the power. If the bucket is empty, the eggs will go into the chest. If it is full, it will shoot into the cell.
Donkey
Approach the animal and press RMB to ride it. The donkey will resist and throw you off. But it won't last long. After taming you will see hearts. To control an animal, put a saddle on it. To tie him to the fence, you can use a leash. It is also possible to secure the chest and transport it on an animal. Take the chest in your hand and right-click on the donkey. The donkey will carry it on itself.
