Bedbugs can poison the lives of both the average family and hotel owners. In this fight, a person faced with pests will try to find the best remedy to eradicate the problem, and many sources praise the drug Minap 22. The editors of the VredStop portal decided to figure out whether it is really that good at fighting bedbugs.
What poison is it based on?
Any remedy for bedbugs (or other pests) that you can buy in the store is not completely unique. There are a limited number of pesticides that are used to create such preparations, and there are not very many of them. It turns out that the product can be called anything, but only the type and concentration of the original pesticide will matter.
By the way
Comparing the type of pesticide and its concentration can save you money! Why overpay for flashy packaging if the poison and its content in both products are identical.
Minap 22 is based on chlorpyrifos, which is the active ingredient. Its concentration in the suspension is only 93 grams per liter, but, firstly, this is enough to successfully combat insects, and secondly, a higher concentration would make the product dangerous for use by non-professionals at home and without special equipment.
Folk recipes
Despite the fact that purchasing a high-quality chemical remedy for bedbugs has recently become much easier, folk recipes do not lose their relevance. After all, they are absolutely harmless. Their effectiveness has been tested for centuries. A bed bug appears under certain conditions and can be destroyed by using certain means and creating conditions under which the house bug cannot survive. Below are five proven folk methods of struggle, presented in increasing order of their effectiveness. From most effective to least effective.
Physical method
This method is also called freezing. The essence of this method is simple - bedbugs cannot tolerate low temperatures. But you can get rid of bedbugs in this way only in the cold winter. At temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius, the bug dies.
The freezing procedure is carried out as follows: all windows and doors must be opened for 2–3 hours. This should be done when frosts below 10 degrees appear outside. The domestic bug cannot withstand temperatures that are critically low for it. To prevent the insect from hiding from the cold, it is advisable to take upholstered furniture, blankets and pillows outside or into the middle of the room.
Frost kills not only adults, but also larvae and eggs of the parasite. The only drawback is the heating system. Some parasites may hide behind the radiator, and after the procedure is completed and the room becomes warm again, house bugs will appear again, although not in such numbers and less active. This means that you can forget about them for several months.
Steam generator for bedbugs
It's not just low temperatures that are detrimental to insects. Insect protein coagulates already at a temperature of 60 degrees. To get rid of bedbugs, bedding is boiled or ironed with a hot iron and steam. They do the same with clothes. Pillows, blankets, and mattresses are exposed to the scorching rays of the sun or also treated with an iron or steam generator. In the same way, you can deal with house bugs hiding in upholstered furniture or carpets. To get rid of bedbugs indoors, you just need to increase the temperature in the house to 45 degrees. Prolonged exposure, more than 4 hours, to such a high temperature is detrimental to insects. The apartment will be cleaned completely and with virtually no extra effort.
Herbs
The bedbug has a very well developed sense of smell. Thanks to his sense of smell, he finds his relatives and senses the approach of danger or potential prey. Some plants secrete essential substances that make house bugs get nervous and leave in good time. It has long been known that the bug cannot tolerate the smell of nutmeg and raspberries. But these products can not be used as a means of getting rid of bedbugs, but rather for preventive purposes. Decoctions and infusions of herbs such as:
- chamomile;
- tansy;
- sagebrush;
- peppermint;
- calamus;
- lavender;
- valerian.
The decoction or infusion is poured into a bottle with a spray bottle and sprayed over areas where these parasites accumulate. The product will not work for long as long as the smell lasts. Therefore, you will have to spray regularly.
Kerosene is great against bedbugs
This method is effective, but only if you were able to detect a large cluster of bedbugs and spray them with the solution before they had time to scatter. Kerosene, when it comes into contact with the body of an insect, forms an invisible film that clogs the respiratory openings, causing the parasite to die. Instead of kerosene, substances such as:
- kerosene;
- turpentine;
- denatured alcohol;
- ammonia;
- boric acid;
- naphthalene.
Insects are afraid of the pungent odor of all of the listed substances. The processing of the premises occurs in several stages. The areas of the largest accumulation are treated first. If the bedbugs have not disappeared, the coverage area is increased. But usually 2-3 procedures are enough.
Vinegar
This is a very simple, yet effective remedy. Insects cannot stand the smell of vinegar. Typically, a vinegar solution is used together with other components. You can spray the areas where bedbugs accumulate, or you can simply place an open jar of vinegar nearby so that the bedbugs get scared and disappear. The following recipes based on vinegar are effective:
- Vinegar;
- Naphthalene;
- Ethyl alcohol 90%.
All components are taken in equal proportions and mixed. Apply to areas of accumulation with a spray bottle. You can add turpentine and kerosene to the solution to increase the effect.
How does Minap 22 work?
Chlorpyrifos is a mixed-action pesticide: while most poisons have one or two types of effects on parasites, it combines three. Chlorpyrifos can at the same time be called an intestinal poison, since it enters the insect’s body through the digestive system (for example, with food); fumigant, since the fumes of the poison penetrate inside through the respiratory tract. But the most important thing is that it can be called a contact pesticide, since the poison can penetrate the body through the chitinous shell, which means that the insect only needs to walk on the treated surface.
By the way
"Minap 22" is effective not only in the fight against bedbugs. It can be used to combat ants, fleas and even cockroaches, since the active substance equally poisons any type of insect.
After contact with the poison, the insect dies within a few hours, and the maximum mortality of adults is observed a few days after treatment. However, do not forget that the eggs of some household pests do not allow poison to pass through, so it will take several months to completely get rid of insects.
How to treat a room.
Any pest control procedure requires a professional and serious approach. The main criterion for the best effect associated with the destruction of insects is preparation; the more properly prepared, the better the result of the work.
The process of treating a room consists of several points: preparation, work with poison, and post-disinfestation measures. At the moment, modern insect repellents cannot cause serious harm to humans or pets. Specially targeted solutions and products are designed to destroy arthropod pests, and cause them a fatal or paralytic effect.
Preparation for processing
Before starting all pest control work, you must do a wet cleaning of all rooms yourself, wash the floors, baseboards and window sills. During the treatment period, remove all pets from the premises. If there is an aquarium in the apartment, then it must be turned off and covered with film. Before working with toxic drugs, you must put all food in cabinets, remove garbage and cover all household appliances.
Preparation of working solution.
In order to carry out disinfestation work in an apartment or house, you need to prepare: a sprayer of 1 liter, cold water, a respirator, safety glasses and the insect repellent itself. Dissolve the drug in cold water, bring it to the desired percentage (use the table on how to dilute the working solution). Stir the finished solution carefully with a stick, and you can start working.
After the preparatory work, begin to spray the entire surface around the perimeter with the working solution, starting from the baseboards, after the wall (to a height of 1.6 meters), and all the furniture on all sides. Blankets, bedding and other things should be treated with hot boiling water; curtains, windows and doorways should be treated with a solution. Everything in the room must be treated and covered with the solution up to 97% of the surface, and only one room should not be treated, work must be done in the entire house or apartment.
After disinfestation activities.
After the treated apartment, do not ventilate for 2 hours and keep it closed. After the time has elapsed, ventilate all rooms. Do not wash the floors for 3 days!
After time, the kitchen can be washed with a specially prepared solution (dissolve laundry soap in water and add baking soda to it, in a 1:1 ratio) tables and dishes; All personal hygiene items in the bathroom, children's toys and things, if necessary, rinse in boiled water (at 90˚C) and iron.
The most important thing when treating a room with a solution is that only one person in the room is fully equipped with a protective suit, a mask and goggles.
How to remove bedbugs yourself
What are the advantages of the product?
When purchasing Minap 22, you can count on a number of advantages that will make it easier to process the room and make it more efficient.
- "Minap 22" belongs to hazard class 4, which includes low-hazard poisons. This is a rarity for drugs based on chlorpyrifos, which has a hazard class of 2. True, this does not mean that you can relax and forget about precautions.
- The suspension is practically odorless, so nothing will give away the recent treatment of the room.
- Microcapsule technology ensures a prolonged effect of the drug - up to 12 months - since the poison is released from the capsules gradually.
- Since the action is prolonged, the poison is capable of exterminating young animals that appear within several months after the disappearance of adults.
- The product is a concentrate that is diluted in water, which means it will last for a long time.
- The suspension can be stored at temperatures from -20 to +40 without loss of properties and, therefore, effectiveness.
But, despite all these positive qualities, when working with a pesticide, you should strictly follow the instructions in the instructions and take all possible precautions.
Important!
Some insects develop resistance to chlorpyrifos, so repeated treatments are recommended with preparations based on a different pesticide.
Risks and Precautions
While it is quite possible to be poisoned by chlorpyrifos, in the drug “Minap 22” its concentration is not so dangerous for humans. Yes, when processing you need to use goggles, gloves and a respirator to avoid irritation and other unpleasant reactions, but this product does not pose a serious danger to humans or pets.
From the recommendations for use, two important points can be noted.
- The room must be processed without people inside.
- Be sure to ventilate the room after treating the room.
It seems that Minap 22 is indeed an effective remedy in the fight against bedbugs and other flightless insects, and if the instructions and safety precautions are followed, it can also be called one of the safest pesticides available at an affordable price.
