One of the effective chemicals that protects plants outdoors and at home is the insecticide Intavir. It has an increased spectrum of action and protects crops from the negative effects of various pests. According to the instructions for use, Intavir can also be used against uninvited guests such as ants, bedbugs, cockroaches and other household insects.

Mode of application

To get the desired result from Intavir, you need to read the instructions for use.

Rules for preparing Intavir

The standard scheme for preparing the working fluid provides for the consumption of Intavir in the amount of 1-2 tablets per 10 liters of water. The dosage for indoor plants differs significantly from the norm for garden crops. Ready-to-use Intavir has a cloudy color and a characteristic odor, which disappears after treatment. It is necessary to spray plants immediately after diluting the drug in water.

Consumption rates for different crops

To effectively combat parasitic individuals, you need to adhere to a certain dosage relative to a specific plant type.

Berry bushes

To prepare Intavir, you need to dissolve 1.5-2 tablets of insecticide in a bucket of water. If the scale of infection of currant bushes, gooseberries, raspberries, and strawberries is small, then it is enough to use one tablet per bucket of clean liquid. Plants should be treated either before the flowering phase begins or after harvesting. About 1 liter of working fluid is consumed per bush.

Fruit trees

In order for the insecticide to exhibit its protective properties, it is necessary to prepare Intavir according to the following dosage:

  • To combat parasites on cherries, prepare a solution using 1 tablet per 10 liters of water. Fruit trees should be treated during the period when the berries are coloring.
  • It is possible to protect pear, apple and quince trees from codling moths using working fluid (according to the standard scheme) 7 days after flowering. Repeated use is indicated after 2 weeks.

It is possible to destroy the flower beetle at the stage of bud formation with a drug diluted according to the standard regimen. The same solution is used against leaf rollers in the area where the pest is concentrated. A solution of 2 tablets of the product in a bucket of water, which is used at the end of the flowering phase, helps against aphids. Use 2.5 liters of solution per tree.

Vegetables

If you exceed the dosage when using Intavir, you can not only harm plants, but also humans and animals. Dilute the insecticide 1 tablet per bucket of water. In advanced cases, the treatment is repeated again.

Grape

Since the presence of leaf rollers on the grapevine significantly reduces productivity, the solution must be diluted for effectiveness at the rate of 2 tablets per 10 liters of water. Spraying should be done as soon as the solution is ready. The number of manipulations is 2 times per season: at the flowering stage and during the formation of ovaries. The procedure is carried out according to the sheet.

Houseplants

During the period when harmful insects appear, it is necessary to begin treatments. But before this, the soil should be protected with polyethylene. Dilute 1/8 of the tablet per 1 liter of water. This quantity is enough for 10-15 copies. Intavir for indoor plants should be used strictly in the indicated dosage.

Precautionary measures

At home, when processing flowers and in the garden, it is very important to adhere to safety measures. You cannot work without protective clothing, glasses, a respirator and gloves

Spraying should be done outdoors. If it is not possible to treat the plant outside the living space, then the aquarium with fish must be removed from the room or covered, animals must also be removed and not allowed into this room for 24 hours.

While working with the solution, it is prohibited to smoke, eat, or drink water; all products must be removed from the room if treatments are carried out in it. Upon completion, it is recommended to rinse your mouth, remove work clothes, and wash your hands and face with soap.

Harm to humans (first aid for poisoning)

If the working fluid accidentally gets on the skin or in the eyes, it is necessary to rinse them under running water for 10-15 minutes, since it is dangerous to human health. In case of insecticide poisoning, the following manipulations must be performed immediately:

  • by using a solution of potassium permanganate (pink), rinse the mouth;
  • provide the victim with plenty of fluids (at least 1 liter of water);
  • induce vomiting;
  • take the appropriate medicine (1 tablet of activated carbon per 10 kg of body weight).

Only an integrated approach will allow you to quickly remove toxic substances from the human body.

Storage conditions and shelf life

You can purchase an insecticidal agent at any specialized retail outlet. Its shelf life from the date of manufacture is 2 years. Toxic substances must be stored in accordance with the following rules:

  • in a place isolated from children and animals;
  • at temperatures from -10 to +40 °C;
  • in a dry room.

Precautionary measures

Due to the clear threshold effect of the cyano group and the pronounced halogens, cypermethrin is already a rather insidious substance. If deltamethrin poisoning occurs immediately, the effect of cypermethrin on the body can affect the body years later and be irreversible. What makes cypermethrin even more dangerous is the nature of its solubility: it is low in water (10 mg/l), but high in fats and acidic environments, and good in organic solvents. At the same time, the permissible daily dose of cypermethrin (ADI = ADI, permissible daily intake) for humans is 0.02 (mg/kg body weight)*day; the same is the maximum permissible concentration of cypermethrin in soil (MPC), also 0.02 mg/kg. One Inta-Vir tablet contains 0.3 g or 300 mg of cypermethrin. This is enough to poison 20 people with a body weight of 75 kg or 1500 kg of soil (about 1 cubic meter of soil of normal density); Considering the thickness (thickness) of the top loose layer of earth is 10 cm, the maximum permissible concentration for cypermethrin will be exceeded if the solution of one Inta-Vira tablet is poured over an area of 10 square meters. m. The harmful effect of the drug increases if solutions of 0.01% concentration are used that are stronger (1 g or 3.3 tablets, or more, per 10 liters of water). For warm-blooded animals, even mild poisoning with such a solution almost inevitably entails severe long-term consequences. Don’t forget, cypermethrin and deltamethrin are not just a cyano group + halogen + some kind of organic matter; all together it is a nerve poison! It is for these reasons that only Inta-Vir TAB is now certified for private household plots: the tablets do not generate dust, do not splash into the eyes, mouth, nose, the “tablet” dosage is accurately done by an unqualified user without a scale, and accidentally swallowing a tablet the size of a large coin and 3 times thick -4 matches is impossible.

In large agricultural technology, veterinary medicine and in everyday life, cypermethrin is widely used as an inexpensive universal insecticide, incl. for disinfecting livestock premises, agricultural product storage facilities and protecting grain crops from damage by barn pests. Of the more than 40 insecticides produced with cypermethrin for private household plots and independent household use, no more than 10 are certified. professional use of drugs with cypermethrin, they are assigned the 3rd hazard class for humans, 2nd for bees and 1st for fish. Preparations with cypermethrin for personal households are certified in such a way as to “meet” this classification, because An increase in the hazard class of DV entails huge costs on a national scale. But for a non-professional owner, taking into account the above, it is better to still handle Inta-Vir and other drugs with cypermethrin, whenever possible using precautions for substances of a class more dangerous.

PPE

The choice of PPE should be approached informally. It is necessary to take into account, firstly, that you will have to work with Inta-Vir in warm weather or in the heat, and vapors and splashes of active substances that get on the body will easily penetrate inside when the grease is absorbed back. A typical picture for a summer resident who is inexperienced in agricultural chemistry: he worked normally, but began to undress himself from his equipment - he became ill.

Personal protective equipment for working with preparations containing cypermethrin

Operator at position 1 Fig., if he works with cypermethrin, he made a big mistake by wearing an ordinary vapor-permeable overalls and, for the sake of cooling, leaving open areas of the skin with a large number of hair follicles and microtraumas from shaving. A branded set of PPE with one-sided vapor permeability (item 2) will cost about $300 minimum; a respirator for it with gas cartridges and a face mask (item 3) for approx. from 150 of the same.

In this case, it would be better to wear regular work clothes, and over it, throw on a plastic raincoat to the toes with a hood. You will steam in such a “harness”, but the zones of sweat vapor and the drug will be separated by a vapor-proof membrane. All you need to do when you finish your work is to generously spray the cape with water: Inta-Vir is easily washed off. The treatment should be carried out with the sprayer set to medium-sized spray and standing with your back to the wind. It’s not always convenient, but in this case the face will be fairly reliably protected by an ordinary mounting helmet with a shield (you can make it homemade), pos. 4. Of course, it requires a petal respirator.

But what is absolutely necessary (and inexpensive) are protective gloves for working with pesticides - double, reinforced, with high gauntlets. On sale they can be recognized by the green color of the finger-wrist parts, yellow leggings (item 5) and a white or yellow lining.

Security zones

Cypermethrin has almost no smell to you and me. Insects smell it well. The smell of cypermethrin repels predatory entomophages and flying (reproducing) pests. This is good both for the effectiveness of Inta-Vir and for the preservation of beneficial entomofauna. But insects with a “sweet tooth” are, on the contrary, attracted to the smell of some DV isomers. This is useful for fighting ants, see below, but a plant treated with the drug can destroy bees. Therefore, Inta-Vir security zones are established as follows:

  • For an apiary – from 6 km; restriction of bees' flight from 96 hours.
  • For open reservoirs – from 1.5 km.
  • For people, residential buildings and captured water supply sources (e.g., closed-head wells) – 50 m.
  • For residential buildings and an assistant in PPE (see below) – 15 m.

First aid

There is no antidote for cypermethrin, treatment is symptomatic, first self-help measures are not very effective. Therefore, the most reliable first aid when working with cypermethrin preparations is a trained assistant in PPE with insurance. His task is to observe the operator and, upon noticing symptoms of malaise, force him to interrupt work and immediately take him to a toxicologist, taking with him the packaging of the drug. Symptoms of cypermethrin poisoning are:

  1. Ptosis (spontaneous drooping of the eyelids).
  2. Increased salivation.
  3. Drooping lower lip and/or jaw.
  4. Impaired coordination of movements.
  5. Unsteady “drunk” gait.

General Safety Precautions

General precautions when working with Inta-Vir and other products containing cypermethrin are usual for pesticides: the drug should be stored in a separate room, inaccessible to children and animals. Storing food products in the same room with pesticides is unacceptable! Biological products should be stored in a separate tightly closed container: a box with a lid, a cabinet.

Allowable working time with Inta-Vir is 4 hours. Do not drink, eat or smoke while working. If in the heat it becomes unbearable to wear PPE, you need to move 15 m or more against the wind, stand facing it, wait 3 minutes, and only then take off the mask, cape and unbutton your clothes. It is better if an assistant splashes water over the operator’s cape before doing this. The container of the used drug is stored until the end of work and 2-3 hours after it; This is necessary in case symptoms of illness appear.

Application in the garden

Copper sulfate: use in gardening and in the garden against diseases, rules for processing plants
Intavir's instructions state that the effectiveness of the drug is significantly reduced at temperatures above 25 degrees, so it must be used in the morning or evening.

To protect pear, quince and apple trees, Intavir is used:

Pest nameConsumption rate per 10 liters of waterProcessing period
codling moth1 tablet (10 g)

7 days after flowering.

Repeated spraying if necessary after 14 days

Aphids 1-2 tablets (10 g each) depending on the number of pests

Upon completion of flowering

Flower beetle 1 tablet (10 g) During budding

Leaf roller 1 tablet (10 g) During the period of mass accumulation of caterpillars

To treat strawberries, gooseberries and currants against a complex of pests, it is recommended to use Intavir at the rate of 1-1.5 tablets per bucket, depending on the criticality of the situation. The product must be used before mass flowering.

For cherry flies, spraying on cherries and cherries is necessary during the period of fruit coloring, according to the instructions for use of Intavir.

To protect all vegetable and flower crops in open and closed ground, it is recommended to use an insecticide during the active growing season when there is a mass accumulation of insects. The consumption rate of Intavir according to the instructions is 1-2 tablets per liquid volume of 10 liters. Repeated spraying is possible after 2 weeks.

"Intavir" is also effective in protecting grapes from leaf roller. In this case, to prepare an active solution, you need to dissolve 2 tablets of the product in 1 bucket of water. Spraying should be applied twice without fail: during the flowering period, during fruit set.

Treatment with Intavir

The main solution, according to the instructions for use, is an aqueous emulsion in the following ratios: 1 tablet per 10 liters of water.

Advice. Intavir tablet is poorly soluble in water. To speed up the process, you can mash it directly in the package and then add it to the water.

Processing is carried out in dry, windless weather. If possible, work in the evening or on a cool day unless precipitation is forecast. Moisture reduces processing efficiency. Since the drug is toxic, with a pungent odor, spraying on a hot day can lead to vapor poisoning. In this case, the use of a respirator is necessary.

We must not forget about other personal protective equipment: glasses, gloves, thick clothing. The solution is prepared in accordance with the instructions for use indicated by the manufacturer on the packaging and used immediately. The diluted product is not stored.

Spraying is most often carried out using a spray bottle. It is important that there is no strong wind outside. If there is still a breeze, then spray in the direction of the wind. Otherwise, there is a risk of receiving the entire dose of poison on yourself.

If, despite all precautions, poisoning still occurs, then it is necessary to act depending on the degree of poisoning: rinse the stomach and induce vomiting, wash parts of the body contaminated with the solution, call a doctor if necessary. People suffering from allergies should take hypoallergenic products.

Purpose and action

How to replant lavender in the fall: is it possible to do this and when is it better, rules

Intavir belongs to the category of pyrethroids. Pyrethroids are members of insecticides, so named because of their similar structure and mechanism of action to natural pyrethrins. Pyrethrins are plant-derived insecticides found in the flowers of pyrethrum, wild ash and chrysanthemum. Pyrethroids have an effect on the nervous system of harmful insects when they come into contact with pre-irrigated vegetation. As a result, after 48–72 hours, paralyzed insects die.

Intavir is used to exterminate many harmful insects:

  1. night light;
  2. cabbage butterfly;
  3. codling moth;
  4. Colorado beetle;
  5. vesicularis;
  6. carrot fly;
  7. aphid;
  8. leaf-eating caterpillars;
  9. leaf roller;
  10. fluorimea;
  11. sawfly;
  12. apple weevil.

In addition, this product quite often exterminates cockroaches, house bugs, fleas and red forest ants in the house.

Composition and release form

The insecticide Intavir is produced in the form of a tablet, easily soluble in water, or a powder weighing 8 grams. The active ingredient of this product is cypermethrin containing 37.5 g/kg. The most pronounced effect of Intavir is noticeable in the destruction of aphids, vesicles, whiteflies and caterpillars.

What is it used for?

The insecticide is recommended to be used to eliminate harmful beetles, larvae or mites from your pet. There is a list of pests that are sensitive to the drug:

  • thrips;
  • leaf rollers;
  • whitefly;
  • codling moth;
  • aphid;
  • flower beetle

When exposed to an affected flower, part of the drug spreads to surfaces in the room. Household bedbugs and the ubiquitous cockroaches respond positively to this disinfection. They also react like pests of indoor flowers - they die.

It is noted that when sprayed over agricultural crops, not all types of parasites die safely. Some show resistance to this type of chemical. In this case, it is recommended to use other means of control.

Instructions for use of the drug Intavir against the Colorado potato beetle

When, where and how to plant lilies in the spring: rules and features of the process

Intavir for the Colorado potato beetle is a poisonous water-soluble chemical from Russia. The chemical is available in the form of tablets weighing 8 grams or in powder form. The product is recommended for use in household plots and large farms as a reliable insecticide effective against 50 varieties of garden crop pests. The main active ingredient in the composition is cypermethrin. The concentration of the substance in Intavir is about 38 grams per 1 kg. After spraying the plants, a microfilm is formed on its surface, which, when sprayed with the drug, covers the surface of the plant with a microfilm. If the product enters the body of insects that harm potato plantings and eat foliage, it leads to paralysis of the pests and their death within 24 hours. The effect of the chemical lasts for two weeks after spraying the shoots.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of Intavir?

There are quite a large number of modern chemical preparations on the market today designed to combat garden pests, among which Intavir stands out. For the first time, such a remedy was developed based on a squeeze from medicinal plants such as chamomile and tansy.

The benefits of the chemical include:

  • high efficiency against pests;
  • the ability to combat a large number of pest species with one means;
  • duration of action;
  • excellent combination of price and quality parameters;
  • safety for humans and warm-blooded animals;
  • lack of accumulation quality in plants, since after 20 days the main active components completely decompose into harmless elements.

The drug is effective in combating not only the Colorado potato beetle, it also copes well with thrips, white butterflies, carrot flies, aphids and a number of other pests of garden crops. One of the advantages of the chemical is the possibility of its use in a greenhouse. The product is one of the few that does not have an unpleasant specific odor.

Among the disadvantages of the chemical preparation is a special requirement for weather conditions to be able to carry out work on spraying shoots. They can only be carried out in the absence of rain, as during precipitation the drug is washed off with water and its effectiveness decreases.

How is Intavir used?

To use the drug for pest control, an aqueous solution is first prepared, which is then used to spray the plants. To do this, take one tablet or sachet for dilution in 10 liters of warm water. First, the drug is diluted in a small volume of water, gradually increasing the amount to the recommended value. If it is necessary to treat a small area of potato planting, half a tablet can be used, and the amount of water should be reduced to 5 liters.

The best time for spraying is considered to be morning or evening hours. Treatment of potato plantings against the Colorado potato beetle is carried out in dry weather without wind at a temperature of no more than 25 C. The shoots are treated completely, including carefully treating the inner and outer surfaces of the leaf blades. The application of the solution is carried out using a continuous method, avoiding the presence of untreated areas during the work, even if there are no obvious signs of larvae or beetles on the potatoes.

The product can be used to control pests of other garden plants. In this case, it is recommended to adhere to the following recommendations:

  • thrips, aphids - 8 grams for every 10 liters of warm water;
  • codling moth, caterpillar - 1 tablet is diluted in a 10-liter bucket of water;
  • weevil - 1.5 tablets per 10 liters of water, sprayed during the growing season;
  • whitefly - 2 tablets for every 10 liters of water.

Such plants are treated during the growing season. Currant glasswort is treated with a solution of 1 tablet dissolved in 10 liters of water during the period before and after flowering.

The drug is effective not only for combating the Colorado potato beetle. The product can be used to treat “house plants”. To do this, the tablet is divided into 8 parts, the resulting portion weighing 1 gram is dissolved in 1 liter of water. On average, this amount of working solution is enough for half a standard window sill, completely filled with plants.

The mechanism of the poisonous action of the insecticide

Cypermethrin in Inta-Vir has the properties of a contact-intestinal insecticide, active against mature individuals and larvae. The active substance does not poison pest eggs.

The drug has two routes of penetration into the insect’s body. The first is that when the solution gets on the chitinous shell, the drug is absorbed directly into the tissue of the pest. The second is that when treating leaves and shoots, the drug is stored on the tissues of the plant and penetrates the body of the insect when it feeds.

Cypermethrin is a nerve poison. By disrupting the passage of a nerve impulse through synaptic connections, this substance provokes paralysis of the insect and its death.

Important! "Inta-Vir" is not absorbed into plant tissue and does not disperse throughout the vascular system throughout the plant, but remains on the surface of the leaves. Therefore, treatment with this drug is effective only in places where insects accumulate and directly feed.

The drug "Inta-Vir" is produced by agro, which is well known to Russian summer residents for other products - fertilizers, soils, etc.

From household insects

With the help of Intavir you can quickly get rid of such uninvited guests as ants, bedbugs, fleas, and cockroaches.

In this case, it is necessary to carry out actions in the following sequence.

  1. Clear the premises of pets.
  2. Cover the aquarium with thick material or film.
  3. Carry out wet cleaning.
  4. Free up hard-to-reach places.
  5. Prepare a working product at the rate of 1 tablet per 0.3-0.6 liters of water.
  6. Spray areas where insects are likely to accumulate.
  7. Leave the room closed for 2 hours.
  8. When finished, thoroughly ventilate the room.

Subsequently, you should not clean for the next 3 days. If insects reappear, the procedure can be repeated after 10 days.

Storage and expiration dates

The chemical should not be left near products that are to be subsequently consumed by humans. The storage area should be inaccessible to animals and children

To prevent the product from losing its qualities, it is important to monitor the temperature values, which should not fall below – 90 C and not rise above +30 degrees

The shelf life of the finished drug Intavir against the Colorado potato beetle is indicated on the packaging. As for the finished solution, its storage is prohibited. The solution must be used within several hours after its preparation. After opening the package, subsequent storage is carried out in a bag that can be hermetically sealed.

Consumption rates for the drug to protect various crops

The current solution for irrigation of crops is prepared according to this principle - 1 table. the drug is kneaded in a plastic container with a glass of liquid until a paste-like mass is obtained, the total amount is added to 1000 ml

Next, the resulting concentrate is diluted with liquid, taking into account the characteristics of the crop affected by pests:

Berry

"Intavir" for strawberries in spring is used in the proportion of 2 tablets. for 2 buckets of liquid. Material consumption 1.5 – 1.8 l. per 1 square meter. A single spray is enough. Treatment of currants in the spring with Intavir is carried out at the rate of one to one and a half liters per bush, twice until the ovary forms. To prepare the solution, take 1 tablet. and 1 bucket of water.

Fruit trees

The crown is irrigated with the prepared dissolved preparation (1 tablet per 1 bucket of liquid). The time for Intavir is when to spray optimally before the color of fruit and berry products changes.

Fruit trees respond well to spraying with Intavir

Vegetables

The last time it is permissible to treat vegetables with Intavir is 3 days before harvesting the finished fruits. Double irrigation of crops is required, both indoors and outdoors.

Indoor flowers

The abundance of pests on crops serves as a signal to treat flower crops with Intavir solution prepared from 2 tables. for 1 bucket of water. The frequency of procedures must be at least three.

Features of the drug

The disadvantages of Inta-Vir do not exclude its practical use, otherwise the drug would not be certified for private household plots, see below. After all, there are many pesticides with just as many equally serious shortcomings. To determine the scope and features of Inta-Vir’s application, let’s analyze the chemical structure of its active ingredient.

Chemical structure of deltamethrin and cypermethrin molecules

Cypermethrin has a chemical twin brother - deltamethrin, see Fig., DV of the killer "ambulance" against pests insecticide Decis. In technical products, molecules of both active substances can be contained in the form of 8 isomers. Both molecules contain a CN cyano group, which explains the wide range and intestinal effect of the drugs; Of the pyrethroids, only deltamethrin and cypermethrin contain a cyano group.

But these twins are not identical. The difference, and a very significant one, is in the components that give the contact effect - halogen ions: in deltamethrin bromine Br, in cypermethrin chlorine Cl.

The chemical activity of halogens decreases sharply with increasing atomic mass. Chlorine (M=37) is chemically much stronger than bromine (M=80). Because of this, on the one hand, it is more “attached” to the base molecule and is difficult to separate from it in a free form. This is due to the almost complete absence of smell and taste of the drug and its very weak contact effect: in order to be poisoned by cypermethrin, the pest must eat a sufficient amount of it, and the vapors of the drug can only penetrate inside insects that have thin integuments. All cyanides have a sharp threshold effect: taking a dose of poison that is less than lethal either goes away without leaving a trace or causes mild discomfort. Since cypermethrin is very slightly soluble in water (see below) and does not have translaminar activity (does not permeate plant tissue), Inta-Vir turns out to be ineffective against suckers with dense integuments: by piercing the leaf cuticle with a stylet, it simply does not eat a lethal dose of poison, but for now pumps and “wants” to change place, the drug is neutralized in his body.

On the other hand, active chlorine more strongly polarizes the entire DV molecule, “pulling toward itself” the shell of valence electrons. Therefore, the cypermethrin molecule “keeps all together” weaker and in the digestive tract of insects is “torn” by oxidizing and hydrolyzing enzymes (esterases) into alcoholic (from complex higher alcohols) and acidic (from weak organic acids) parts (on the right in the figure above). The cyano group remains with the alcohol residue, and the halogen remains with the acid residue. In both cases, fewer carbon and oxygen atoms “counteracting” the chemical “force” of the cyano group and halogen remain in the metabolites (decomposition products). The cyano group and halogen become tightly bound to “their” residues and completely lose their toxicity.

This creates an interesting paradox: replacing bromine with the much smellier and toxic chlorine deprives the drug of its odor and makes it less effective. But based on objective knowledge, there are no unsolvable paradoxes. Almost complete analogues of this phenomenon are ordinary table salt NaCl and the well-known mild sedative potassium bromide KBr (“bromine”). Here and there, the strongest poisons are associated with metals that react explosively with water, and the result is harmless substances. There is also a positive side effect: cypermethrin can be synthesized using homemade equipment, and to replace chlorine with bromine and isolate active isomers with it, a modern chemical production with a staff of highly qualified specialists is required. That is why the prices for Inta-Vir and Decis differ significantly.

Phytotoxicity

Popular guidelines for the management of LPH claim that deltamethrin and cypermethrin are not phytotoxic. However, the article about the drug Decis indicates a source whose authors proved the phytotoxicity of deltamethrin. The results of experiments with cypermethrin are also presented there. The negative effect on plants is similar, but in a higher concentration - 0.0043%.

Generally speaking, all pyrethroids are potentially phytotoxic. Their basis is substances secreted by pyrethrum plants (Dalmatian daisies) for protection against pests and in the process of competition in the plant community. The general consequence of this is that the phytotoxicity of pyrethroids is also fundamentally selective

An important practical consequence - do not exceed dosages, do not violate the regulations for use (see below) and do not use Inta-Vir, etc.

pyrethroids for crops on which the drug has not been tested!

The problem of loss of effectiveness and other disadvantages of the drug

In the scientific study “Pyrethroid insecticides - analogues of natural protective substances of plants,” one important problem with cypermethrin-based preparations was revealed. Under certain conditions they may lose their effectiveness:

“Insects, like all living beings, have a complex set of means that protect the body from foreign substances entering it. Once in the body of insects, pyrethroids are primarily susceptible to the action of oxidative enzymes and enzymes that hydrolyze ester groups (esterases). The action of esterases leads to the splitting of the original molecule into acid and alcohol components and, as a consequence, to a complete loss of insecticidal activity.”

A.V. Tkachev, researcher at Novosibirsk State University

In simple terms, if the pest has not immediately received a lethal dose of the drug, the treatment will be ineffective.

The contact effect of Inta-Vir is weaker than the intestinal one, therefore, against sucking pests with a hard shell, it is better to use stronger agents that are capable of translaminar movement in plant tissues.

Inta-Vir also has other serious disadvantages:

  • high toxicity to bees and other pollinators and entomophages;
  • short period of protective action (5-7 days);
  • relatively slow development of the effect (up to 3 days);
  • easy to wash off with rain and irrigation water.

A number of old sources indicate that insects do not become accustomed to this pesticide. However, in recent years, the emergence of resistant populations has been recorded. Therefore, Inta-Vir cannot be considered a panacea for the mass of pests that the manufacturer claims.

Instructions for use of the drug Intavir

The easily soluble powdery texture of the poison greatly facilitates its use, allowing even a beginner to quickly cope with the task. The only requirement is that you do not deviate from the instructions given on the packaging, otherwise there is a risk of intoxication or burns to the plant.

How to cook

Preparing a working solution of Intavir is simple. To do this, you need to dissolve the tablet or the contents of one sachet in a small amount of clean warm water, gradually adding liquid to the volume indicated on the package of the drug.

The resulting mixture is poured into a spray bottle with the smallest nozzle, after which you can safely begin processing, remembering that to achieve the most effective result, it makes sense to use only freshly prepared mixture.

It has been repeatedly proven that Intavir copes well with most pests that live on indoor flowers

When to treat

The time and number of treatments are of great importance. Thus, experts strongly recommend spraying plants only in the morning, even before the sun reaches its zenith. But on the contrary, treatment should not be carried out at night.

For the same reason, for the last (third) time, instead of treating with pure Intavir, it is recommended to use it in combination with an insecticide of another group.

There is an opinion that the drug does not provide the desired effect as a prophylactic drug. However, this is not the case, since maintaining protective qualities for one to two weeks still does its job. At the same time, Intavir has been widely used not only for treating garden crops, but also for combating such common household parasites as cockroaches, bedbugs, midges, red ants, etc.

Security measures

Despite all its safety, Intavir poses a certain threat to honey bees and water inhabitants. This means that treatment with the drug should be carried out no later than 5 days before the insects are released into the apiary. Otherwise, unpleasant consequences may arise in the form of mass death or illness of bees.

In all other cases, it can be used without fear, not forgetting the importance of using personal protective equipment. We are talking about disposable gloves, goggles and a respirator that prevent small drops of poison from reaching the mucous membranes and skin.

Other advantages include the ability to mix the drug with any pesticides

First aid

The drug can cause unexpected reactions upon penetration into the gastrointestinal tract and mucous membranes. In these situations it is urgent:

  • drink from 5 to 8 tablets. activated carbon;
  • rinse the mouth with a pale pink solution of manganese;
  • take a mild laxative + one and a half liters of liquid;
  • seek qualified help from a medical institution.

If unprotected skin is affected, repeated rinsing with cool, clean water is required.

The active ingredient of Inta-Vira is a pyrethroid called cypermethrin (see → use of cypermethrin against mosquitoes, cockroaches, ticks, ants). It was first obtained in the middle of the 20th century and since then has been actively used by pesticide manufacturers as a component of plant protection products. Today it can be called the most common pyrethroid insecticide in the world.

Pure cypermethrin has a slight odor and looks like a viscous, colorless mass. It remains stable at high temperatures and in slightly acidic environments, but is easily hydrolyzed by alkalis.

Toxicity

Inta-Vir is a moderately hazardous substance belonging to class 3. This means that the drug is not phytotoxic, not very dangerous for mammals, but dangerous for bees and other pollinators, so treatment during flowering is strictly not recommended. Bees can be released into treated areas only 4-5 days after spraying Inta-Vir. Inta-Vir is also highly toxic to aquatic organisms, therefore it is prohibited to work with the drug in the fishing zone, that is, within a radius of 2000 meters from water bodies.

"Inta-Vir": release forms and prices

The most convenient and actively sold form of this insecticide is water-soluble tablets. However, other release options are presented on the manufacturer’s website:

Poisons that act on rodents are also produced under the Inta-Vir brand. Moreover, the product called “Inta-Vir Rat and Mice Killer” very quickly entered the TOP of the most effective poisons for this purpose. It is produced in the form of grain baits, granules, dough, and can help gardeners preserve the harvest or protect perennial plants from gnawing.

Analogs

The drug can be addictive in insects, so it should be replaced with other means. Analogs of Intavir are as follows:

  • Inta-Ts-M are water-soluble insecticidal tablets based on cypermethrin (affects the pest from the inside) and malathion (has a contact, intestinal, fumigation effect) from which a mother solution is prepared. The drug has a detrimental effect on 40 types of insect pests.

Analog of Intavir - Inta-Ts-M

  • Alatar - the drug is available in the form of a concentrated emulsion, raspberry color, placed in an ampoule (5 ml volume) or in bottles (25 ml volume). The product provides good protection against garden and vegetable pests.

Storage conditions

The drug retains its protective properties for 2 years from the date of release. In this case, the temperature should be within -10-+45 degrees.

Opened or damaged packaging is not subject to further storage. The product should be placed away from food and medications, as well as in places inaccessible to children. The prepared solution should be used within 1 day, as later it loses its properties.

You can achieve quick and effective results by strictly following the instructions for use of Intavir. Reviews from flower growers and gardeners only confirm this fact. But you should understand that any disregard of the manufacturer’s recommendations may negatively affect the final result.

Security measures

The insecticide in question is dangerous for all types of fish and other inhabitants of water bodies, therefore treatment with it near them is prohibited. A person himself can be poisoned by this drug from aphids, which is why maximum protective equipment is required: goggles, gloves, a respirator, a robe and boots. After treatment with Inta-Vir, you should take a shower and wash your hands.

If the product gets into your mouth, first aid is to rinse it with potassium permanganate. Its solution should be very weak. Then you should drink activated carbon at the rate of one tablet per 10 kg of weight. If weakness, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea appear and the temperature rises sharply (usually on the second day), you must call a doctor. He needs to show the packaging or at least tell him the name of the drug so that he can determine the correct antidote.

Inta-Vir is a popular and universal remedy against aphids, and it is also inexpensive. A package of powder (8 g) costs about 15-20 rubles. Just don’t get carried away with it, since excessive chemicals can destroy bees, fish and make the crop unfit for consumption and life-threatening.

Reviews

Oktyabrina: a very effective drug, especially if you carry out the treatment at the very beginning of the pest invasion of your area. One spray was enough for me to clear my garden and country house of parasites.

Aristarchus: this year the Colorado potato beetle almost devoured my young tomatoes. On the advice of my neighbors, I bought Inta-Vir, made a solution, sprayed the beds after sunset, and in the morning I discovered that the danger had passed. No more beetles appeared in my garden this summer.

Olga Semyonovna: the drug is excellent, very reliable. I’m still new to the dacha business, but now I already have some experience in defeating pests thanks to Inta-Vir.

Impact principle

The effect of Intavira is similar to the ancient method: the use of dried Dalmatian chamomile flowers. The flower has been used since ancient times and is trustworthy. Peretroid or the second generation of cypermethrin is an analogue of the natural substance.

The active ingredient is poisonous. After application to the foliage, the bark is effective (without increasing humidity) for up to 28-30 days. It enters the body of insects along with food and begins to destroy nerve cells. The applied preparation is not absorbed into plant juices, but remains on the surface in the form of a thin film.

Once ingested, the toxic component kills the insect. Approximate waiting time is up to 3 days. But the substance can only kill adults. Intavir has no effect on larvae and eggs. If it rains, the working solution (film) is washed off.

The pesticide cannot be used multiple times per season. Annual use leads to pests becoming accustomed to Intavir. Therefore, it is recommended to alternately apply insecticides.

Need to know! Intavir is a product that helps get rid of bed bugs. The toxicity is so great that in three doses there is a chance of eliminating the problem forever. It's not just furniture that is treated. Skirting boards, wallpaper, and radiators should be treated. After eliminating the insects, the room is ventilated and thoroughly washed with special products.

Pros and cons of Intavir

Among the expressed positive qualities are:

  • wide range of effects;
  • guaranteed elimination of parasitic pests;
  • ease of use;
  • absence of a sharp unpleasant odor;
  • the ability to save the harvest;
  • preventing damage to finished agricultural products by worms and slugs;
  • preservation of the decorative properties of cultural plantings.

"Intavir" has a wide range of effects

There are also disadvantages that may arise when using an insecticide:

  • the ability of insect pests to reduce sensitivity to the toxin;
  • has a teratogenic effect;
  • toxic to bees and helping insects;
  • changes the soil composition, destroying soil bacteria;
  • ineffective against larvae and eggs of pests;
  • washed away by precipitation and watering;
  • long period of waiting for the effect to occur.

Instructions: how to use the product

The method of using the product corresponds to similar insecticides. For the most effective effect of Inta-vir, the instructions for use suggest the following procedure:

  • the tablet should be dissolved in 7 liters of water at room temperature, always carrying out work in a ventilated place or outside;
  • the composition is applied evenly to all crops, including those not affected by the parasite;
  • fruit trees should be watered more abundantly with Inta-vir, spraying 3-4 liters of chemical on each;
  • a repeat procedure is carried out only if the insects continue to parasitize the plants, but not earlier than after 15 days, and no more than 3 times per agricultural season;
  • the beneficial effect of the product will be significantly reduced if precipitation occurs within 4-5 hours after treatment.

Judging by some reviews, the dissolution of the Inta-vir tablet may require considerable time. In order not to wait, gardeners recommend crushing the product to small pieces or powder before opening the package. If it is poured into water in this form, it will not in any way affect the quality of the drug against parasitic insects.

The product is best used in early spring when the first signs of plant damage appear. At this time, the parasites are just beginning to multiply, so the insecticide will interrupt the harmful process in the bud. In addition, in the spring the fruits have not yet formed, so poison particles will definitely not remain on the products of the future harvest.

The use of Inta-vir in the garden when processing individual crops has some nuances. For example, strawberries should be sprayed before the first flowers appear.

The composition is sprayed onto cherry trees before the fruit turns red. For pear trees and apple trees, Intavir can be a very useful remedy. However, trees should be treated no earlier than two weeks after flowering.

For currants, Inta-vir is bred both before and after the bush blooms. In any case, you will have to spend 1.5 tablets of medicine for a container of 10 liters of water.

The volumes of the composition used may vary significantly depending on the type of parasite or crop being treated:

  1. Vegetable crops are sprayed with 10 liters of solution for every 10 acres.
  2. However, when treating tomatoes and cucumbers with Inta-vir against aphids or against whiteflies, the concentration increases by one and a half times.
  3. Against aphids and codling moths that parasitize pear or apple trees, a ten-liter bucket of solution is required for each tree.
  4. To protect strawberries from weevils, 1.5 liters of Inta-vir are used per hundred square meters.

Due to its tendency to wash away and be affected by wind, the product is best applied in good weather, either in the morning or at dusk. If it suddenly rains after work, the procedure can be repeated the next day. However, in this case, the concentration of the solution should be reduced by 1.5 times, because even after precipitation, a certain proportion of the chemical remains on the surface and in the soil. Inta-vir can also help against ticks.

Before treatment with a warm shower jet, parasites must be washed off the houseplant. The soil in the bowl can be covered with cellophane film. The entire surface of the plant must be disinfected. Additionally, the solution is applied to the windowsill or other place around the flower pot.

The product is also used to kill indoor bedbugs. However, such a procedure will require a strong concentration of the chemical:

  1. You will need to use 2 tablets per liter of water.
  2. Next, you should carefully treat the entire surface of the bed, including small folds and crevices where bloodsuckers can hide.
  3. Bedbugs live even far from the bed: behind radiators, in pieces of furniture, under wallpaper and rugs, in household appliances. For successful treatment, it is necessary to identify all insect nests so that their population disappears once and for all.

The drug acts on cockroaches and ants. The rules for using the product in this case are no different from the methods of treating bedbugs. By the way, Inta-vir against ants is also used in the garden. To do this, sprinkle the chemical powder on the soil around the anthill.

You should not skimp on the concentration of the composition and you should strictly follow all the requirements of the instructions regarding the frequency of the procedure. If at least a few affected plants are missed while working in the garden, after some time the parasites will not only fill the treated crops, but will also become resistant to the chemical. The same applies to missed nests of parasites in the apartment.

Why is Intavir dangerous? When can you pick fruits?

The drug belongs to the “moderately dangerous” category, which means that if you follow the instructions for using Intavir, the substance should be safe. However, unfortunately, cases of poisoning still occur. Most often this happens due to a disregard for the rules of use. To prevent this from happening, you must not only observe all safety measures during crop processing, but also know and apply a number of other necessary conditions:

  1. Process fruit and vegetable crops before or after flowering. Cypermethrin contained in Intavir lasts on grass for up to 2 weeks, in light soil - up to 2-3 weeks, and in heavy loamy soils - up to 10 weeks. The fruits can be used for cooking no earlier than 20-30 days after processing. And the treatment itself is carried out no more than 2 times per season.
  2. Storage rules. It is necessary to exclude children and pets from accessing the drug. Young children are at particular risk. Since they spend more time on the floor of the house or on the grass, outside, they tend to touch objects more and taste them. Therefore, it is necessary to prevent children from coming into contact with surfaces treated with Intavir. Also, it is strictly forbidden to give processed fruits earlier than a month later.

Intavir is toxic to fish, so it should not be used near water bodies. And when processing at home, the aquarium is covered with protective glass and the compressor must be turned off. If there is an apiary on the garden plot, then it is necessary to limit the flight of bees for 5-6 days.

When treating indoor plants with Intavir, you need to remove all products and personal belongings located in the room. And if this is not possible, then everything is hermetically packed in plastic bags. There should be no children or pets at home. And after work, general cleaning and ventilation are required.

Intavir is a fairly effective means of protecting plants and crops. You can’t do without it if there are a lot of insect pests. But it is very important to strictly follow the rules of use indicated on the packaging by the manufacturer. Only then can you be sure that the products grown are safe for your own health.
