Insecticidal agent for the destruction of cockroaches and ants, Ataka gel, is produced in Domodedovo, Moscow region - KORSARUS LLC, and has a gel-like consistency. This drug has proven itself well in the domestic market and is popular among consumers.
What is cockroach gel?
This is a chemical product with a gel-like consistency in a tube or syringe with a long “spout” shape for convenient use.
The active substance in gels is usually an insecticide from the group of pesticides. The composition contains a number of special additives: fatty substances that prevent drying, flavors, components to extend service life, etc.
Gel of any brand acts according to the following scheme:
- the smell attracts insects;
- the cockroach immediately eats a small amount of gel or gets dirty in it, washes its paws and, again, swallows the poison;
- the insecticide begins to work, the individual dies.
Store the gel at room temperature in a dark place inaccessible to children and animals.
Products based on diazinon
Fas gel is a multicomponent preparation. Contains diazinon and cypermethrin. The concentration of these insecticides varies, respectively: 0.6% and 0.03%. Thanks to this feature, the effectiveness of the product increases. The drug is offered in tubes (75 g). The product has a high speed of action. Cockroaches die within a day after treating the room. Despite the low level of toxicity (class IV), one tube is enough to treat a large room from 90 to 3000 square meters. m.
Gel Fas is used in the fight against ants and cockroaches of various types (black, red). The presence of various types of insecticides (a group of pyrethroids and organophosphorus compounds) in the composition allows you to clean the premises in a short time. The gel can be found in the form of a syringe or tube.
Another product containing diazinon is Kapkan Sturm gel paste. Available in syringe form (15 g and 30 g). In addition to diazinon, the composition includes alphacypermethrin. The presence of two different types of insecticides increases the effectiveness of the product. To obtain the desired result, the substance is applied in small drops. The consumption of the drug depends on the number of cockroaches in the house: from 5 to 10 drops per 1 square meter. m. To treat the kitchen and bathroom, you may need 2-3 syringes.
Advantages and disadvantages of gels
The only disadvantage of such drugs is the lack of instant action. The population will die out gradually, but all insects will disappear. Repeated disinfestation is rarely required.
The advantages include the following:
- Convenient to use. You just need to open the syringe or tube and spot treat the room.
- Long lasting effect. Due to the fatty base, poisons evaporate slowly and act for approximately 40–60 days.

- Gel Attack. Available in a 20 g tube. This product is low toxic and safe for warm-blooded creatures. Its main advantage is a long period of residual action. The drug continues to kill insects for 6 months after application.
- Gel Rubit. It can be purchased in the form of a syringe (30 g). The main purpose of this product is to kill ants. However, it can also be used to kill cockroaches. The amount of Rubit is enough to treat 40 square meters. m.
- Gel Raptor. Contains the insecticide lambda-cyhalothrin. With its help, crawling insects of various types are destroyed. Raptor is characterized by contact-intestinal action. In addition, after treatment, the product continues to act for some time.
- Gel Clean House. Contains cypermethrin, tetramethrin. Multicomponent products have the advantage of a higher level of effectiveness. You can purchase the drug in tube form (20 and 35 g). Special components in the product attract insects and also encourage them to try the poison.

"Global"
Contains chlorpyrifos and cocoa butter, the aroma of which attracts insects. It has a bitter taste, so it is not of interest to pets. There are no dangerous substances in the composition - even if a small part of the gel gets on their tongue, there will be no serious consequences.

"Foresight"
An environmentally friendly product, according to the manufacturer. The gel has little contact with air and does not emit dangerous vapors. The active ingredient is cypermethrin. "Brownie"

"Taiga"
Contains 1% chlorpyrifos, which quickly kills parasites. The remaining 99% is occupied by preservatives, fatty base and flavoring. A Taiga package is enough for 300 sq. m. area. Valid from a couple of months to six months.
Active ingredients in the Raid trap
The principle of operation of the trap is designed in such a way that an insect, attracted by a pleasant “aroma,” crawls inside the flask and eats the poison. The following pesticides are used in the bait:
- Abamectin is an odorless poisonous substance that completely kills any insect. This chemical was recently developed, so the parasites have not yet developed immunity to the toxic effects of the substance.
- Scented lures are a complex of odors that insects crawl to.
Important. A drug that sterilizes insects has been added to the poisoning complex. They cannot reproduce further after eating the poisonous mixture.
An ampoule with a sterilizing agent, the composition of which the manufacturers keep secret, production know-how, works for three months. Therefore, even if a cockroach wanders into the apartment after sanitation, it simply will not be able to reproduce for its own pleasure, thanks to the action of this chemical.
To enhance the effect of the bait, you can additionally put the cockroaches’ favorite delicacies in the trap - a piece of bread or a boiled potato. The transparent surface of the trap allows you to look inside and make sure that the cockroaches like the bait.
Cockroaches need to drink water, so you need to place bait traps in those places where the insects have access to water
If insects are not observed to be eating the poison, move the traps closer to the water source. A cockroach must drink daily and will definitely come to the sink - this is the best place to install a death trap. Four of these traps are designed for an area of seven square meters, so for a large kitchen you will need two packs of Raid Max.
How to use gel against cockroaches: instructions
- carry out a general cleaning of the house and thoroughly wash the places where cockroaches were noticed;
- treat all surfaces with gel (you can use direct application of the product or pour it onto paper and cardboard strips);
- distribute the drug using a point method in the form of a dotted line, leaving at least 3-7 cm between each point;
- leave the substance to act for 1–2 months or more (see instructions).
Cardboard strips with gel make cleaning much easier once all the cockroaches have been killed.
Why the gel may not be effective
Even the best cockroach repellent will not help if they have free access to clean water and food. It is necessary to eliminate all leaks in the kitchen from the tap or pipes, regularly take out the trash can, do not leave food on the table or in the sink, and put special nets on windows and ventilation.
Safety precautions when working with gel insecticides
Be sure to remove children and animals from the premises before applying insecticides. Wear thick clothing, a respirator or mask, and remove food products from public access.
Make sure that the drug does not come into contact with mucous membranes and skin. If this happens, rinse your eyes or other affected areas thoroughly with water.
After cleaning the area, wash your hands with soap.
Harm to people
The active ingredients in the gel are considered low-hazard for people. However, it is important to follow the rules for its use.
- Do not allow the gel to come into contact with your skin.

The gel contains attractants, which means there is no need to treat small leaks. Thanks to the bait, the cockroaches will leave their homes on their own. However, you need to apply the product in visible places and in areas where cockroaches often appear: baseboards, the backs of furniture, appliances, the tops of cabinets, interior surfaces, the area under the sink, next to the trash can and on water/sewer pipes.
The drug should be applied in small drops (the size of a pea or a grain of rice). To achieve the desired result, it is enough to apply the poison in a dotted line. The recommended distance between drops is from 4 to 6 cm. The more insects in the apartment, the closer the poison points should be located.
Considering that the product in gel form is odorless and has low toxicity, it can be applied to surfaces in the house without a respirator or safety glasses. Such requirements are imposed when treating a room with an aerosol or spray. If you use gel, just wear rubber gloves. If the product comes into contact with mucous membranes or skin, wash the contaminated area with running water and soap.
